2 years has passed. We still miss you and think of you constantly. And although the pain eases with time, the loving memories remain as strong as ever.

Susan and I went to school together but we lost touch for forty years when I moved to Westgate with my parents and she emigrated to Australia around Christmas 1963, although I did not know that until the computer age reunited us in 2003.
Fom then I always looked forward to recieving her emails pictures gifts and beautiful hand made cards that she sent me, we also did lots of reminising over things from the past.
Sadly her planned visit to the UK was not to be, I was so looking forward to seeing her again.
I feel truly honoured to have been a friend of Susan and are thinking of You, Alan and the family.

Granny – or Susan, as I have never called her – is a very big part of my life. It might seem very normal for a relative as close as your grandmother to be, well, close, but that’s not always the case. And the normalcy of a life like that is extremely important. Especially when not everything can be so nice and ‘normal’. My memories of Granny are only the best, and with every word she spoke to myself and my siblings, and every one of the words she wrote on her handmade cards exuded kindness. It seemed that there was never an iota nor a single hint of vulnerability or ill treatment of anyone around her.
She is an extremely caring, special person, and for having her in my life I could not be more thankful.

Although I have not known Susan for a long time, I feel that I have. I met Susan when she came with Alan to Narwee Baptist Church about 10 years ago. I came to know her well when we attended the same Homegroup (Bible Study group) for the past 6 years. Susan became a dear friend, I will always remember her bright personality, her enthusiasm for everything, her smiling face, her love and thoughtfulness, but mostly for her love of her Saviour and her amazing Godly example during her illness. I will miss her very much, but praise God for her life that continues its’ influence on so many other lives.

Susan touched so many lives with kindness, humour and caring I am so very grateful to have shared so many years of friendship with her, I would like to quote from T.L. Odem: “If the essence of my being has caused a smile to have appeared upon your face or a touch of joy within your heart, then in living I have made my mark”. Susan touched my heart and there she will always stay with love and precious memories

I am the youngest sister and the next down from Susan (until Kay came along ).
When we were young I remember always saying to Susan , don’t go to sleep before me as we shared the same bedroom . I think I woke her up half the time but she always said no ok.
I was so gutted when she chose to go to Australia but at the time I worked with an Australia fella and he said that I should be crying that I was not going .
I’ve enjoyed so many visits to Australia infact I was there when they bought their house, the neighbours put on a welcoming party and nearly all of these neighbours are still there and have been wonderful friends to Susan and Alan . I have so many treasured memories .

Susan was a life long friend, I used to live next door to her in Honeypot lane, only 6 months difference between us. I was the eldest. Tony Heather susan Carol and myself used to all play together. When we got to the grand old age of eleven, Susan and myself joined the st johns ambulance,we both felt very important as we had a uniform, and weekends we would both help out in a childrens home,or an old peoples home, we also helped out at London Airport and a picture house, we loved that as we got to see the films for free. At the age of thirteen we went camping to the I.O.W with the ST johns Ambulance 150 of us from all over England. That is when Susan and myself became famous,.. well we thought we had. We were chosen out of 150 girls and boys, to have our photo taken, and we were then on all of the posters and envelopes for one whole year. We laughed about it for ever… Susan was a wonderful friend and she will always be in my thoughts, I will miss her great emails and miss our great friendship that we had. x ………..I will cherish these wonderful memories for ever.

The fondest memory I have of Aunty Susan (and still talk about) was when I went out to visit with mum, Hef, Kay and Roslyn in January 1994 – Long time ago I know, however, I love the sun and enjoy just laying out in the sun daily, but on my visit this was not to be the case because as soon as I was in the sun sure enough there was Aunty susan 10 minutes in with the sun cream or a cover of somesorts, she would explain to me on a regular basis how bad the sun was for me and that I should not stay in the sun for too long, now to a young 21yr old sun worshiper this was not welcomed at the time, later on of course I understood her reasons, that she was only looking after me…… this is something I remembered most about my Aunty, which was that she was always worrying about and looking after others…..

Aunty Susan will always be in my heart and thoughts and will be deeply missed xxxxx

I worked with Susan at Bethel she was just so wonderful with the residents and even when she was made to feel her hearing difficulty was a problem she was always gracious even when hurt. My greatest regret was that I did not keep intouch with Susan during the years until just after Christmas this year. I was so glad that I did catch up with her and she was so beautiful face beaming talking about her death and funeral and meeting Jesus. I look forward to being reunited when I get to see Jesus. Love and blessings to Susans lovely family

When I think of you Susan, I think of sweetness and kindness and your lovely smile. Thanks for letting a couple of teenage girls raid your clothes and earrings – you were so stylish back in the 70’s. Will miss you special lady ?

The most fun memory I have of granny is when we went to the movies. This was when Granny and Sir were taking care of us. It started when granny said that we were going to “go to the pictures”, and being little it made me think that we were going to get our pictures taken. It surprised me when we got to the theater and noticed that there was no picture place around. When we went in I was very happy to find out that we were seeing Happy Feet, and at that time it was one of the movies I wanted to see most. So we then went in and got our food/drinks, and then we sat down in our seats on the side row. Me and Charlie both sat next to Granny and it was one of the most enjoyable movies of my life. I love Granny so much and I will miss her.

My grandmother was a generous, loving person. She helped me and my brothers an immeasurable amount when we went to America to live and she came with us to help. She would help Mum with the cooking, and she would have conversations about interesting things with my siblings that I never quite understood. The most I can remember of her staying with us was her helping me with every problem I had, social to academic. I loved her so much that I would never leave her by my own will. She was charitable, polite, and respectful her entire life, cradle to grave. Her name is one I will never forget because she loved us and we loved her.
